EMO MODE

Posted in Uncategorized at 7:35 am by chris

I have stopped thinking about D. for ages because I’m so busy. D was like in my dreams – laughing, stealing glances, just being with me – in a frequency surpassed only by the storms in November. When I’m home, we see each other often as well – on the weekends. But I’m busy and I’m not home. And I am so bad at multitasking.

But today I’m writing about D. I’m busy still. So I wonder why.

I wanna go back.

It never occurred to me that missing someone could be this bad that it hurts. (slightly lang ^^)

This January I’d be finding a new crib. That’s why I need more money – for it and for the tools that must come with the whole circumstance. lol. I figured, I won’t have any problems with the net connection (which is very important) because I saw places that offer connectivity in their amenities. And so, what I need is another laptop now that my Ibook is still being fixed. Now, here are my requirements:

It should be a Windows-run PC, tsk! Not that I’m trading mac for this monstrosity but right now I am really finding it hard to have my Ibook fixed because of the support shortage. Hence, the current preference.

Then, it should be small nuff that I could bring it anywhere, conspicuously.

Secondly, it should be as sleek as the mac, or at least some evidences are present to make it appear that efforts were made in this department. lol. (for example, I kinda liked the Dell Vostro but the round fugliness of the dell logo turns me off)

Third, it should be so sturdy because I am a dude after all. (Reminds of how hassle it is, wiping my hands constantly lest I smudge the Ibook)

Finally, it should not hurt my wallet so bad. I am cost-cutting so to speak. I have bills to pay.

So, I figured I’d need a Lenovo, or a Toshiba or a nicer looking Dell or – an alternative – a netbook.

Now, these netbooks or UMPCs are getting more than enough of my attention already: I am looking at the Asus EEPC and the Aspire One. They are so fucking small, plus the AAO is stylish, plus these toys are phenomenally cheap.

The fancy EEPC.

The fancy EEPC.

What’s the difference, anyway? Well, apparently a netbook is technically not a laptop. Instead one could consider it the toy wedged between a smartphone and a laptop. It’s primarily for net browsing and light mobile computing. Thus, the name. See, it has its own mobile processor although it can run XP (although slower) it doesn’t have elements found in the regular notebook such as disk drives, big HDD and yes, the powerful core2duo and so forth.

So what’s the big deal for me? Hmmm… I would use the gadget mainly for writing and communicating. I don’t do much gaming and graphic and web designing these days. Laptops have veeeery short shelf life these days… So.

I may be toting around an AAO one of these days. Am excited.
