DUO

Posted in Uncategorized at 11:02 pm by chris

These days I’ve been hearing alot about, “hey, you were a writer,” (usually in the past tense, like I could just stop being one and not write for the rest of my life ^^) “why the shift and suddenly you want to be a cook?” It’s hard to explain that I could actually do both and excel. Bwahaha. Yabang no? But seriously, I believe in it. I would not, for the life of me, do something or ingratiate myself in a circumstance wherein I would fare poorly. I am very calculating to a fault. So I wanna be a cook or a chef because I am passionate about it. I have heard about this dude called Anthony Bourdain. He was both an author and a chef. I haven’t read his pieces, but then again, he was able to do it, and maybe I can and die trying. ^^

Anyway,  writing and the culinary arts are not entirely divergent fields. They’re both creative. One art feeds the mind and one feeds the senses. Also, I like to please, and so I get a kick out of the idea that I satisfy people with my food. The dynamics of dining as an experience is very fascinating for me and I love to eat so why can’t I be here?

Dude, you’re too old.

Eh, is 23 old? Bwahaha

I got myself a Globe Duo sim, and I was amazed. I have a landline number and a mobile number in one. In its landline persona, it could call unmetered and receive calls from landline phones. Duo to Duo calls are unlimited as well. It’s prepaid so it’s a bit flexible, although flexible would mean a consistent shelling of a hundred and twenty five bucks every other five days. I am yet to find the quirks and problems. Meantime, yeah, I am uber pleased with the service. ^^

THE GOING GETS TOUGH

Posted in Uncategorized at 10:15 pm by chris

Last time I was home, I was driving my car around buying some supplies and meeting friends for a day. It was pretty cool: from my hometown to Legazpi, there’s a very long stretch of scenic route and I’ve driven early and there was the haze of the morning dew and all, certain to be back in time when the sun is gonna set. At these times, the sun keeps everything warm and glow, including my heart. ^^.

I was actually thinking about poetic thoughts (e.g. mooning over how the volcano with shrouded in mist and marveling about the greens of the rice fields that span the sides of at least a league of a straight highway) I figured I was so fortunate to have been driving in such a fine day.

Way deep in the city, with the gathering traffic, I was in high spirits when I caught something red flashing in the dashboard. The car was overheating and I was traversing a busy street beside a shopping mall! I am not yet very confident with my driving skills and so you would understand how I was sweating profusely and growing nervous by the minute. Then the fucking car stopped dead before I was able to pull over. Horns started blaring and I was, like, thinking “Shit, what am I gonna do?” It was not unlike a gathering storm, lol.  Lucky for me, two trike drivers were kind enough to lend me a hand.

Sabi nung isa: “Ok, sige i-kadyot mo pare.” Labo naman, mukhang bastos yun a.

Sabi ko: Eh, di ko lam yun… Kaw na lang kaya?

He was talking about pala yung pag start ng oto habang tinutulak sya. Hehe.

I did not go near my car for about two to three days after the incident. Pathetic, eh? Bwahaha.
